Girl Scout "Council's Own" Figure Skating Badges!

Brownie Try-Its, Junior Badges, and Older Girl Interest Project Awards

For my Girl Scout Silver Award project, I decided to create a program where Girl Scouts could learn to figure skate - and earn program-level awards as part of my program.  After I researched what badges and programs already exist, I approached the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, California with my idea - and they agreed to let me offer my project at their facility.  So far, more than 400 Los Angeles area Girl Scouts have participated in my program and have earned these badges!  I also offered my program at the Staples Center in Los Angeles at a Girl Scout Night with the Los Angeles Kings.  Girls and Troops across the United States have participated in this program - which continues today.  Try-Its, Junior Badges, and Older Girl Interest Project Awards are still available for purchase through my Girl Scout troop.

Program Requirements for Each Award are Posted on this Site

These earned awards follow traditional Girl Scout protocol for earned awards.  The Brownie Try-It is earned by girls completing 4 of the items - including #1 and #2, which are required.  The Junior Badge is earned when six items are completed - also including #1 and #2 - and the Older Girl Interest Project Award is earned by a combination of 7 items (2 Skills Builders, 1 Technology, 1 Service Project, and 1 Career Exploration) - plus two more of the girl's choice.
