Kristina's Silver Award Project Vision

For my Silver Award project, I decided to create a program where Girl Scouts could learn to figure skate - and earn program-level awards as part of my program.  After I carefully researched my project, I approached the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo, California with my idea - and they agreed to let me offer my project at their facility.  So far, more than 500 Los Angeles area Girl Scouts have participated in my program and have earned these badges!  Nearly 2,000 Girl Scouts across the country have also earned these awards!  Thank you for your support of my (ongoing) project.

Kristina's Skating
I've been a skater at the Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo for more than 7 years.  I started taking classes through Toyota's skating school - and progressed to private lessons.  I am a member of I.S.I. and I compete at the Freestyle 6 level - and am also a member of US Figure Skating through the Figure Skating Club of Southern California and have tested to the Intermediate Moves level and Pre-Juvenile Freeskate level.
Girls who attend Kristina's program ...
Learn how to skate - including falling safely, doing basic stroking, gliding (one and two foot), swizzles, backwards skating, and stopping on the ice.  Off the ice, they learn about famous skaters, skating clothing, skates themselves, the zamboni, and careers in skating or at a rink.
